Cardi B will not be charged for throwing a microphone in Las Vegas, police say

LAS VEGAS – No charges will be filed against Cardi B after the rapper threw her microphone into a Las Vegas crowd during a performance after someone threw a drink onstage, police said.

“After a thorough review of this case and with consultation from the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, this case has been closed due to insufficient evidence. No charges will be filed in connection with this case,” the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement.

Cardi B, whose birth name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, threw the microphone in reaction to the drink thrown at her at a performance in Las Vegas on July 29, video showed.

A woman who said she was beaten filed a police report for assault.

“On behalf of Cardi, we appreciate the diligent and prompt resolution of this matter by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department,” the attorneys representing Cardi said in a statement.

There have been a number of recent incidents where objects were thrown at performers or onto the stage by people in concert crowds.

Bebe Rexha shared images of her bruised eye in June after a concertgoer threw a phone at her during a performance at Manhattan’s Pier 17.

Someone threw a bag of ash onto the stage while Pink was performing at a concert in London in June. “Is this your mom?” Pink asked as she held the bag, according to video. “I don’t know how I feel about this,” she added.
