The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz made history this Sunday by beat Novak Djokovic in an exciting match (1-6, 7-6 (6), 6-1, 3-6 and 6-4) to tie the first Wimbledon of his career and take revenge for the defeat that the Serb had given him in the semifinals of Roland Garros.

Alcaraz had to overcome a great game by Djokovic, who began by conquering the first set forcefully and forcing the Hispanic to return to his best tennis.

And that was exactly what the Spaniard applied, leveling the game in an exciting tie break that led to a dominance that ended in victory.

Although Djokovic tried to come back in the fourth set when Alcaraz led 2-1 and finished in the fourth game equalizing 2-2, a focused Alcaraz dominated in the final set to add his second career Grand Slam titleafter which he reached the 2022 US Open defeating the Norwegian Casper Ruud.

Alcaraz’s victory was an appointment with history

Alcaraz’s victory is not only proof of his rise in world tennis, but also adds to a hegemony that lasted more than 20 years in tennis and was imposed by three tennis legends: Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and the Djokovic himself.

With Alcaraz’s triumph, he became, together with Andy Murray (2013, 2016), the tennis player who since 2002 has been able to win Wimbledon after the dominance that Federer gave away in 21 years (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009 , 2012, 2017), Djokovic (2011, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022) and Nadal (2008, 2010).

The victory at Wimbledon also allows Alcaraz to continue at number 1 in the ATP Rankingwhere he will dominate at least until the upcoming US Open that will start on August 28, where the Iberian will defend his crown achieved in 2022.
