This Sunday the Spanish Sergio Busquets signed the contract with the inter miami of Major League Soccer (MLS) to once again be a teammate of Argentine star Lionel Messi.
Busquets he was quite excited for the new stage of his football career, in which he hopes to lead the team to the top.
“This is a special and exciting opportunity that I am very excited to take on. I am really looking forward to this next step in my career with Inter Miami,” the midfielder said in a statement.
“I was impressed by the club when I came with Barcelona (in the preseason) last year and now I am happy and prepared to represent this club. I am looking forward to bringing the success that this ambitious club strives for”, he added.
Like Messi, Busquets will occupy a ‘designated player’ position, which is nothing more than a contractual figure that allows MLS teams to circumvent salary limits.
Busquet’s contract it will end in 2025which means that it will last for two and a half seasons, taking into account that half of this tournament has been played.
These two stellar additions are expected to be presented at a great event this Sunday, July 16 at the DRV PNK Stadium starting at 8:00 p.m. local time.
Everything indicates that both will be available to debut on July 21 in the Inter Miami match against the Mexican Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup.
Busquets and Messi will also meet again with the Argentine coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino, who directed them at the Barça club.
Inter Miami urgently needs all the reinforcements it can get to straighten out its season, since it is bottom of the East (18 points after 22 games) and accumulates eleven games without knowing the victory (three draws and eight losses, the last one this Saturday 3-0 against St. Louis City).
