After the appeal of Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner in his last public act -last December- to a mobilization on March 24th, Carlotto’s Stele -president of the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo- rejected this morning the possibility of carrying out the demonstration together with the National Day of Remembrance for Truth and Justice.

“I I think that Cristina on the 24th is not going to make that demonstration because it is exclusively the reminder of a coup, of the disappearance of 30,000 people and 500 babies born in captivity,” he said in the first place.

Through an interview with FM La Patriada, he explained that “that day will be for memory, truth and justice. This other issue will surely be addressed the day before or after the 24th, because we cannot mix it with a clearly current political issue. The memory is of what happened on March 24, 1976.”

On the other hand, Estela de Carlotto referred to the organization of the demonstrations. “I didn’t talk to her at all. Every year, those of us who organize the date are the Human Rights organizations. The government only accompanies us. The route, the document to read, the schedule and those who participate are decided by the organizations as we always do “, he indicated.

In that act in Avellaneda, the Vice President pointed out the ban and exclaimed that “I think that a date like next year, March 24, when democracy will be 40 years old, will be a very important date for us to mobilize”.
