At the end of Ramadan 2023, the Arabic-language media El Hayat TV published the touching message of a little girl, asking her mother to pick her up from the orphanage. The call of ” Nourhane went around Algeria, moving children and adults alike. L’ARAV did not fail to raise the event, and published a press release on Wednesday asking the chain for an explanation.

« L’ARAV took note of the broadcast, on the television channel El Hayet TV on the second day of Eid El Fitrof the appeal launched by a girl resident of the assisted childhood center in which she asks for the return of her mother. The appeal which has generated emotional reactions and an outpouring of solidarity, which is natural, goes against national and international child protection laws,” the statement read.
The organization thus requests details from the channel on the authorizations granted to broadcast such a sensitive message. L’ARAV underlines the mental and psychological repercussions that the child could suffer in the future in view of such media coverage, especially in the face of the advent of social networks.
