Jens Spahn (CDU) and his husband Daniel Funke are separating from their common property in Dahlem. They bought the villa in the posh district of Berlin in July 2020 and received a lot of criticism.

When buying a house in the middle of the corona pandemic, many people were particularly concerned about the purchase price 4.125 million euros and thus also its financing. About two and a half years later, the couple admits mistakes.

Jens Spahn: “Package with faeces” in front of the house

Spahn confirms to “t-online”: “Yes, we have the house sold. […] The purchase back then was the wrong time, in the middle of the pandemic.” The couple did not feel comfortable on the property.






“The hoped-for place of retreat has become a source of unrest, also due to our own mistakes in dealing with it. […] Anonymous mail comes regularly, just recently a package with faeces,” reveals Spahn. Onlookers and protesters are regularly in front of the house.


CDU politician sells house at a loss

As “t-online” reports, citing available documents, sales proceeds of 5.3 million euros are offset by acquisition and renovation costs of 5.5 million euros. Accordingly, the couple have a loss of 200,000 euros made.

According to information from the German Press Agency, in addition to the purchase price, there are costs for the notary, the land register entry, the real estate transfer tax as well as for brokers and renovation.

The couple wanted them property inhabit until they have found a new place to stay. According to the report, the move will not take place before the middle of the year. (day/dpa)
