Celebrate Puerto Rican!  Jasmine Camacho takes the gold in San Salvador 2023

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic medalist, Jasmine Camacho Quinn, won the gold medal this Wednesday in the 100-meter hurdles of the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023, which takes place in the Jorge El Mágico González National State.

The Puerto Rican clocked 12.61 seconds in the final of the event.

On Tuesday, Camacho Quinn set a record of 12.60 seconds in the first of two semifinals, leaving behind the 12.64 seconds set by Puerto Rican Dionne Rose in Maracaibo 2018.

“I’m gratefull. I’m fine mentally. I hope to go faster this Wednesday. Let’s see”, said Camacho Quinn to the media and who comes from an extraordinary performance in the Diamond League.

This mark also earned him the ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, since the minimum required is 12.77 seconds. The qualifying window opened on July 1 and will close on June 30, 2024.

Paola Vázquez went to the final with the second best time, 13.22 seconds, of the second series.
