The PC industry finds itself in an interesting position as CES 2023 approaches. marked slowdown. However, the giants of the sector have embarked on technological battles, which leads to many announcements.

We will therefore discover many products from brands that adopt the latest processors from Intel, the latest GPUs from Nvidia and probably increased competition from AMD on these two fronts. And, last year’s big trend — impressive PC monitors — should continue to be popular this year, with new models offering even higher definitions, faster refresh rates, even blacker blacks and enhanced connectivity features.

More concretely, Nvidia is reportedly planning to release five GeForce RTX 40 GPU variants for laptops. After throwing the first cards GeForce RTX 40, including the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080, and their GPU Ada, we are now waiting for the laptop variants. We also expect the next 13th generation Intel Raptor Lake processors as well as those from AMD. With these novelties, we will undoubtedly discover the new chassis of laptops from Asus, Acer, Dell, Lenovo, Razer, MSI and so on.

Note, moreover, that CES is a destination for Meta, HTC Vive and other companies eager to show the future of gaming and immersive computing in augmented, mixed and virtual reality. Yes, we will probably also talk about metaverses. HTC is still hosting a Vive press conference, and there will be plenty of other headset makers offering cheaper versions and more expensive, more extravagant prototypes.

smartphones

The Consumer Electronic Show (CES) is not the place where smartphone manufacturers are jostling. The Mobile World Congress (MWC), at the end of February, is the show that you usually have to wait for.

Connected homes, health and wearables

It’s a year where everything becomes more integrated. Most smart home gadgets are already compatible with Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit or Amazon Alexa, but the ecosystem continues to structure itself around standards like Matter or Thread. CES will therefore be an opportunity to discover new products from Nanoleaf, TP-Link, Withings, Netatmo, Eve, Aqara, Roborock… such as a new generation of doorbells, refrigerators, cameras and other smart gadgets.

Many startups will also make announcements to us to explain how they can change the lives of wearers of wearables. They will be able to monitor all sorts of health metrics, and say it will make everyone healthier and happier. Among the 200 French Tech startups present at CES, there will undoubtedly be a few nuggets.

TV

The CES is an opportunity to discover the new ranges of televisions of the year. Even if the show is very centered around the American market, we can’t wait to see what LG, Samsung, HiSense, Panasonic, TCL, Philips… have to tell us. Especially since last year, we were able to discover Samsung’s QD-OLED. We will thus have the opportunity to dream while discovering the advances on the MicroLEDby getting a little closer to a general public (and accessible) commercialization of this highly anticipated technology.

It got so much attention that the Detroit Auto Show, which usually followed right after CES, packed its bags… Volkswagen, Sony and Honda, Stellantis (Peugeot, Fiat, Citroën, DS, Jeep), VinFast or even Fisker, there will be a lot of announcements.

Electrification continues its journey, with concrete technologies and bold ideas – LiDaR, batteries, autonomous driving – just as exciting as the concepts that make us dream. We will certainly have announcements on the side of batteries and other solar panels, with brands like Ecoflow. Technologies that are never far from the electric automobile.
