Obviously, nothing is going well between the Moroccans and the Algerians. After the affair of the boycott of the neighboring country of CHAN-2022, a Moroccan sports commentator from “beIN Sports” made an awkward comment during a match of the tournament, the one having opposed Cameroon to Congo.
Already in political conflict, relations between Algeria and Morocco have deteriorated since the start of CHAN-2022 which is taking place in our country. The affair of the Moroccan boycott of the tournament, for the reason that everyone knows, has accentuated the tension between the two countries.
And as the matches are broadcast on the Qatari sports channel “beIN Sports”, the Cameroon-Congo match was entrusted to the Moroccan commentator, Jawad Bada. But the latter made an awkward comment during the match.
“Morocco is not considered to be withdrawing from the competition, but it could not make the trip to Algeria for the reason that everyone knows… In the absence of the leaders of the continent, Tunisia, Egypt and Morocco , the CHAN is without any level”. he commented.
The least we can say is that “slippage” has ignited the web, especially on social networks. If the Algerians took to the Moroccan commentator, his compatriots, on the other hand, supported him.
When Kada Benamar appeals to “beIN Sports”
Jawad Bada’s clumsy comment also drew reaction from some Algerian journalists. We quote, among others, the journalist of Echourouk Kada Benamar. The latter calls on the Qatari sports channel “beIN Sports” to no longer entrust the coverage of CHAN matches to its Moroccan commentators.
“May Qatar, with great respect, intervene to put an end to certain pranks by beIN Sports and commentator Jawad Bada with regard to Algeria, especially in the face of the solid relations that exist between Doha and Algiers. The management of the Qatari sports channel must also intervene for the respect of its profession and its viewers in Algeria and in the Arab world”. he wrote on his official twitter account.
It remains to be seen now if the sports channel in question will intervene to put an end to this new phenomenon which risks further accentuating the tension between the Algerian and Moroccan peoples.
