Belib’, the operator of public charging stations in Paris, changed its price list at the start of the year. From now on, you will have to pay 27 to 100% more to recharge your electric car.

Roll in electric vehicle will cost more in Paris. Belib’, the operator of public charging stations in the capital, revised its prices upwards at the start of 2023. Prices will increase by 27% to 100%.

A new price list has been established for the slowest terminals. From now on, billing will no longer be calculated solely on the charging time, but also on the power consumed on this charge.

In 2022, a subscriber residing in the center of the capital paid 3 euros per hour per charge. In 2023, it will have to pay 2.40 euros per hour per load, plus 55 cents per KWh. Knowing that a recharge to cover 150 kilometers requires 30 KWh, this is equivalent to 16.50 euros for the power consumed. Or 18.90 euros for this recharge, a price six times higher.

Twice as expensive per night

Fast charging prices have also increased. Boost and boost+ options increase by 27% and 53% respectively. For night rates, recharging your electric car will cost almost twice as much. Leaving your vehicle for 10 hours for a 19.5 kWh recharge will cost 7.85 euros, compared to 3.90 euros previously.

These price increases are causing user dissatisfaction. “I am shocked by the price explosion”, “their prices are a shame”, “unheard of”, can we read on Twitter.

“I just did my first Belib recharge of 2023, I didn’t know you had to be a billionaire to charge your car now”, writes a user.

Some even wonder about the usefulness of having an electric car in Paris.
