Check Your Mega Millions Tickets: A $5 Million Winner Sold in Chester County

Would you rather hear the good news first or the bad news about what happened last weekend? If you shop in Chester County, Pennsylvania, you could definitely be in for some fantastic news.

The bad news?

You didn’t win the $940 million Mega Millions drawing on Friday night. No one actually hit the five white balls 5, 10, 28, 52 and 63 and the yellow Mega Ball 18.

The good news?

Well, that means the drawing for Tuesday, August 1, 2023 now has an estimated $1.05 billion jackpot.

Want more good news (including some great news for Pennsylvania 2-ticket holders)?

Don’t throw away your July 28 Mega Millions drawing tickets just yet. More than one of you in Pennsylvania could be (at least) a millionaire. And one of the tickets was sold in suburban Philadelphia.

A Keystone State special ticket sold matched the five white balls (5, 10, 28, 52, and 63) with the Megaplier option, but failed to match the Mega Ball according to Mega Millions. That ticket is worth $5 million.

The $5 million winner was sold at the Thorndale Inn at 430 Bondsville Road in Downingtown, Chester County, the Pennsylvania Lottery announced Monday afternoon. The Thorndale Inn also gets paid, earning a $10,000 bonus for issuing the winning lottery ticket.

One of four $1 million tickets matching the five white balls was sold in McKean County, northern Pennsylvania, in a town called Smethport, the Pennsylvania Lottery said. That $1 million winner was sold at a store at 18265 Route 6. That store gets $5,000 for selling that ticket.

Other $1 million winners were sold in Arizona, California and New York, Mega Millions said.

When is your next chance to become a billionaire?

The next Mega Millions draw is on Tuesday, August 1. So, organize a labor drive and prepare $2. And let your big money dreams run wild as this is one of the 10 biggest lottery jackpots in American history.

The $1.05 billion prize at stake in the upcoming Tuesday night drawing would go to a single winner who chooses to be paid through an annuity, with annual payments over 30 years, The Associated Press said. Jackpot winners almost always opt for a lump sum payment, which for Tuesday’s drawing would be approximately $527.9 million.
