The upper part of the city Viña del Mar, located in Chile, was affected by a strong fire that has already claimed two fatalities and affected around 400 homes. Faced with the incident, the government of President gabriel boric decreed a state of emergency.

The fire has affected more than 125 hectares of the town located in the Valparaíso region, 100 kilometers east of Santiago. In addition, according to Chilean media, the causes of the fire had various sources, while the Executive Director of the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf) stated that it had “human origin”.
“The fire started in a sector called Nueva Esperanza 2000; crossed and reached these two parcels and goes down to the north, heading towards Quinta Vergara through a deep ravine”, said the mayoress of Viña del Mar, Macarena Ripamonti.
MORE THAN 800 FIREFIGHTERS IN VIÑA DEL MAR
Given the seriousness of the events in Viña del Mar, nearly 800 firefighters have traveled to the Chilean town to deal with the emergency.
“Incessant is the work of the nearly 800 firefighters who are deployed to control the fire that affects Viña del Mar. With more than 100 units, they will continue working all night until the emergency is controlled,” read a statement by the “men in red.”
It should be noted that according to images, the amphitheater where the Viña de Mar International Song Festival is held was evacuated due to the spread of the fire.
