China has just launched a new zero-carbon train. Designed by a government corporation, this public transport runs on hydrogen and only emits water. A great step forward for the Middle Kingdom, which has a third of the hydrogen stations in the world!

The future is turned towards ecological transport in the face of the current climatic situation and an increase in pollution. China is no exception to the rule and unveils its new carbon-free train. Manufactured by state-owned CRRC, this clean-energy transit runs on hydrogen with a super-capacitor. But what is this technology and what does it mean for the Middle Kingdom?

What is this new hydrogen train?

In partnership with Chengdu Rail Transit, CRRC unveils its new carbon-free train capable of carrying passengers. This public transport travels at a speed capable to reach 160 km/hso it is the fastest hydrogen model in the world, and it consists of four wagons.

Its operation can also be automated to start, stop and return to its depot. The CRRC train can also operate without a driver and travel 600 km emitting only water. Connectivity is via 5G for speed and reliability.

East Asia, a precursor territory?

The countries that make up East Asia are recognized for their efforts in the area of clean transport. In addition to China, South Korea and Japan are investing in the use of hydrogen to reduce pollution. The Middle Kingdom largely dominates the rest of the world with a third of the world’s hydrogen stations on its territory. It is therefore the country that is making the fastest progress in this area.

Remember that Germany has nothing to be ashamed of in the face of the Chinese giant with 14 Alstom trains that run on hydrogen. But the European country was overtaken by China in terms of speed since the new CRRC train exceeds its competitor by 20 km/h. On the other hand, Germany dominates China with trains that can travel up to 1000 km/h in terms of autonomy.

Faced with the current climatic situation, many countries are making efforts to cleaner technologies.
