This Wednesday, January 4, the list of those eligible for the fourth call for the program was released.Young people to the U’ which will finance, through scholarships, higher education studies in one of the 47 educational institutions with which it has an agreement.

“Seven out of ten beneficiaries of Jóvenes a la U belong to homes in poverty. Of these 10,000 places, 8,000 are open calls and 2,000 are pending to be assigned for direct admission official district educational institutions. We have a total of 846 programs offereds”, explained the mayoress in charge, the Secretary of Education, Edna Bonilla, which added that 70% of the beneficiaries will be the first generation of their family to go to a university and finish their higher education studies.

He also clarified that by areas of knowledge, those with the greatest demand were engineering, architecture, urban planning and related areas, with 26.9%; economy, administration and accounting, with 21.4%; social and human sciences, with 14%; fine arts, with 12.6%; health sciences, with 6.3%; educational sciences, with 4.6% and mathematics and natural sciences with 1.5%.

For his part, the director of ATHENAJosé María Roldán, indicated that “we have a commitment to the most vulnerable population groups, and for this reason 5,251 women, equivalent to 65.8%, were recognized as eligible, even 747 are women with children. 754 belong to an ethnic group, 1,041 have a diverse sexual orientation, 14 are from the trans population, 945 are victims of armed conflict, 25 are from the population with disabilities and 161 are from rural schools”.

In relation to those who are directed these places, the district also wanted to highlight that the locality with the highest number of eligible was Bosa with 15%, followed in order by Ciudad Bolívar with 14.5%, Kennedy with 11.9%, Suba with 10.9%, Usme with 9.9% and San Cristóbal with 7.7%.

The young people who were chosen will be able to advance their technical, technological or professional university studies in any of the 47 public and private higher education institutions and in the program of their choice that they have selected.
