Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof announced today that the third stage of free trips for students who are in their last year of high school will be held this year and thus “guarantee that all those who finish high school can live that special moment.”

The provincial president in his first announcement of the year was accompanied by the Minister of Production, Augusto Costa; the president of the Cultural Institute, Florencia Saintout and the mayor of the General Alvarado district, Sebastián Ianantuony. There he affirmed that the program will continue to be carried out in 2023 and affirmed that this policy seeks to “give the right to many students who were finishing their studies, to be able to make the end-of-year trip”, because “some have economic possibilities, but the great most don’t.”

“It was a policy that was heavily attacked from ignorance and prejudice. It was implemented at the end of the pandemic and it was successful,” said the Buenos Aires president.

The program, which this 2023 will have its third edition and is free for students, is in charge of the Ministry of the Coast and consists of a tourist package that includes lodging in a 3-star or superior hotel for 3 nights and 4 days, transportation to and from the destination, internal transfers, 4 daily meals, two daily excursions, an accompanying adult for every 20 students and a coordinator for every 35 students.

In its second stage, the ReCreo program included 110,000 young people out of a total of 220,000 students who passed the last year of secondary school, belonging to 3,891 state-run and private schools in the 135 municipalities of the Province. The districts that received the most students were La Costa, General Pueyrredón, Monte Hermoso, Pinamar and Villa Gesell; while the municipalities from which the youngest traveled were La Matanza, Lomas de Zamora, La Plata, Quilmes and Merlo.

In another section of the exhibition, and under the slogan “Right to the Future”, he stated that “we must celebrate the numbers of the season that has just begun”, since “the pandemic wreaked havoc on tourist activity from accommodation, gastronomy and the entire industry that moves with tourism”.

“We managed to accompany with different policies to be able to sustain survival. Last season was complex but it ended up being a record despite the protocols and enormous care,” he said.

The Buenos Aires president also remarked that “today we come from the best December in history for the Province. We took precautions with the different mayors and in this sense we launched the Sol a Sol Operation, which is not only security but also care. There are 22,000 troops in the different destinations, we invested in patrol boats, motorcycles and any structure that helps”.
