Selena murder

It was March 31, 1995, when the Queen of Tex-Mex Music’s light went out after being shot by Yolanda Saldvar, president of her fan club and manager of her boutiques.

In the glory of her artistic career, Selena, who already accumulated important awards for her musical successes, had agreed to meet with Saldvar at the Corpus Christi hotel, Texas, to discuss an alleged diversion of funds from the singer’s stores.

However, in the heat of the confrontation, the then 34-year-old woman pulled out a Taurus 85 caliber 38 mm sawed-off revolver128131 and threatened the singer, who was shot in the back when trying to flee.

She was immediately helped by local employees, who called the emergency services, and before fainting she managed to reveal her attacker. Although she was taken to Corpus Christi Memorial Hospital, Quintanilla had lost a lot of blood, as her bullet hit her subclavian artery, and she was declared brain dead.

Selena was 23 years old and at the peak of her career.
