The Berlin Volleys got their twelfth victory in their 13th game of the season in the Volleyball Bundesliga. In the Berlin-Brandenburg derby against Netzhoppers KW-Bestensee, the German champions confidently won 3-0 (25:16, 25:12, 25:17) on Saturday. In front of 5438 spectators in the Max-Schmeling-Halle, the Bundesliga leaders convinced against the third-last in the table with enormous enthusiasm and remained focused even in the phases of clear leadership.

With powerful serves, the volleys immediately gained a clear advantage. After an ace by Anton Brehme, the team was already in the lead at the first technical time-out with 8:2. In particular, the Netzhoppers were almost helpless in the face of Ruben Schott’s attacks. The team captain scored seven points in the first set alone.

Volleys coach Cedric Enard rested Nehemiah Mote, who was suffering from minor back problems, for Thursday’s upcoming group game in the Champions League at Hebar Pazardzhik in Bulgaria. But even without him, the middle block of the Berliners with Brehme and Saso Stalekar proved to be extremely stable against a largely harmless opponent.

In the case of the Netzhoppers, coach Tomasz Wasilkowski tried in vain to give his team support with numerous time-outs and frequent player changes. Supported by the atmospheric backdrop, the BR Volleys were superior at all times. In the third set, the 2.06 meter tall Brehme was able to give a few samples of his greatly improved serve qualities.
