The general manager of the El Adjwaa channel, Bouchakour Zoubirihas been condemned to a 3-year prison sentence with an arrest warrant against him.
The channel’s editor-in-chief and a journalist also receiveda one-year prison sentence including 6 months suspended. This judgment was disclosed by the correctional court of Sidi M’hamed today.
It should be remembered that theAudiovisual Control Authority (ARAV) had decided to close this television channel due to dissemination of inappropriate content.

Indeed, theARAV had decided to close the television channel El Adjwaa TV definitivelybecause of the broadcasting of these sequences which go against societal values and the specificities of Algerian society.
This decision was made in accordance with the law relating to the activity of the sectorwhich confers on the ARAV the missions and prerogatives of regulation and control of the audiovisual scene.
ARAV demands an explanation from El Hayat TV
L’ARAV also intervened vis-à-vis the Arabic-speaking television channel El Hayat TV who had broadcast the touching message of a little girl called ” Nourhane asking her mother to pick her up from the orphanage.

The call quickly circulated in Algeria, arousing great emotion among viewers. However, the Audiovisual Regulatory Authority had requested explanations to the channel after learning of the broadcast of the little girl’s appeal.
ARAV said in a statement that the appeal violated national and international child protection laws, despite the emotional reactions and outpouring of solidarity it may have elicited.
