A hole was dug in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), in the early evening, Monday April 10, to reach the lower floors, which collapsed with the explosion. With infinite precautions, the firefighters searched, stone after stone, under the gaze of the police. The undertakers took away inhabitants mown down by the explosion of their building, on the night of Saturday to Sunday. A sixth body was discovered under the rubble on Monday evening.
The fire continues to smolder
Around the security perimeter, worried neighbors waited for news from their friends. “Really, I’m worried, it hurts me”, confides a local resident. During the night, the search was complicated by the fire, which continues to smolder. It is necessary to fight against the fire before starting the excavations. Excavators can only clear where the emergency services are certain that there are no victims. Architects are also on site to check that the adjoining buildings are not in danger of collapsing.
