College student arrested for stabbing his mother to death in Florida
A 21-year-old college student has been charged with first-degree murder for stabbing his madre because “it got on his nerves,” authorities said in Florida.
Emmanuel Espinoza drove 165 miles (266 kilometers) from the University of Florida in Gainesville to Frostproof, Florida, for a family event. When he arrived at his mother’s house, he began stabbing her when she opened the door and then called 911 to confess to the murder, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.
Elvia Espinoza, 46, was talking on the phone with another family member when her son attacked her.
“We talked to him and he confessed. He said, ‘You know, I’ve wanted to kill my mother for many, many, years because she got on my nerves,’” Judd said.
She was a second-grade teacher and the community loved her, Judd added.
It is unknown if Espinoza has a lawyer to comment on his judicial situation.
