Colombian police seize more than 97,000 kg of cocaine

Bogota.- Colombian Police, in an operation involving institutions from 12 countries, seized 97,204 kilos of cocaine and dismantled 56 drug trafficking structures, of which 6,559 people were arrested between April 26 and June 26, authorities reported Tuesday.

Operation “Antinarcotics” an operational offensive against drug trafficking From a global scope, it was a regional and global initiative led by the Police Community of America in coordination with The International Security Alliance and co-led by the Colombian National Police.

In total, 7,520 control actions were carried out, in which 1,099 weapons, 242 liters of liquid drugs, 768 vehicles, 236,139 kilos of marijuana and 36,767 synthetic drugs were also seized, the Colombian Police reported at a press conference.

In addition, 64 drug trafficking routes and 5.8 million cannabis plants were seized.

This operational action was carried out between April 26 and June 26 to “combat jointly and simultaneously the crime of drug trafficking by land, sea and air, in all its forms of crime and affecting the related crimes that arise from this criminal phenomenon,” the Colombian Police detailed in a statement.

Police institutions from 12 countries participated in it: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay and Peru.
