Conquering Colombians from the heart of Doral

MIAMI.- An invitation to enjoy home-cooked food. The same food that mom and grandma prepared every day in the cocinawithout preservatives and full of freshness. This is the invitation made by Las Caleitas Restaurant & Bakery, a new gastronomic proposal located in the city of Doral which opened its doors just five months ago.

This place is a tribute to the tradition of Colombian cuisine. In fact, our raw material mostly comes from Colombiaeven the vegetables, Juan Gutiérrez, owner of the restaurant, told DIARIO LAS AMRICAS.

Celebrating the cuisine of the Cauca Valley, Las Caleitas Restaurant & Bakery offers an experience in which any diner, regardless of their country of origin, can immerse themselves in the magic of homemade flavors. Hence its name, Las Caleitas, which evokes and pays tribute to Colombian grandmothers, mothers and aunts, who fill childhood with love and flavor with their traditional meals.

The tribute to Las Caleitas is even found in our decoration and atmosphere. It is a spacious, rustic, fine restaurant, with modern touches and very comfortable. And we designed it that way because even though we wanted to offer homemade and Creole food, we did not want its atmosphere to be that of a typical Colombian restaurant. On the contrary, we wanted to celebrate our traditions in style and I think that was reflected in the concept that, although it is modern and innovative, offers a warm, friendly and homely atmosphere, added Juan Gutiérrez.

About the gastronomic offer

Celebrating the diversity and richness of the cuisine of the South American region, with a special focus on Colombian cuisine. The restaurant offers typical dishes such as chuleta valluna, sancocho de costilla, fried Colombian mojarra, marranitas, aborrajado, stuffed potatoes and bean casserole. And on the starter menu you can taste tostones with hogao and guacamole with chicharrón, and the traditional maduro with cheese and snack and chicharrón ceviche.

In addition, they have a refreshing Caribbean cocktail bar, games and natural lemonades, a variety of Colombian beers, and in the bakery area you can enjoy the popular pandebonos, yuca bread, almohabanas buuelos and typical Colombian empanadas.

About the owner

Juan Gutirrez (23) is a young businessman from Cali, Colombia, who has invested all his wealth to celebrate the best of his roots and traditions. Hence his interest in promoting a young concept full of nostalgia.

I bet my entire fortune because I am sure that this is my mission: to exalt the flavors of my land and its greatness. And I will continue to do so with much love, said the young man, who personally serves his restaurant like any other waiter, overseeing the quality and attention.

I don’t do this to sell food, I do it to offer an experience, concluded the business administrator who currently provides work to more than 20 employees.
