The riddle about the missing socks in the washing machine is quickly solved. They disappear through the rubber seal between the door and drum and are drawn inside the washing machine. There they are drawn in further and further until they get caught in the heating coil. Due to the heat and the friction on the coil, the socks that have disappeared will dissolve over time.

There are a few tricks you can use to prevent your socks from being pulled in by the washing machine so quickly. For example, overloaded machines should be avoided.
