Munich – Star chef Alfons Schuhbeck (73), who has been convicted of tax evasion in the millions, has changed his lawyers and wants to hold on to the appeal against his judgment.

The two previous defense attorneys “ended the mandate by mutual agreement and are no longer working for Mr. Schuhbeck,” said Schuhbeck’s spokesman Peter Dietlmaier on Friday.

Schuhbeck decided “that the appeal against the judgment of the Munich I Regional Court of November 27, 2022 should be continued”.

His new attorney is Ali B. Norouzi from Berlin.

“He is regarded as an absolute revision specialist,” Dietlmaier told BILD. “He is highly specialized in such thermal baths. That’s why the change took place.”

In November, the court sentenced Schuhbeck to three years and two months in prison for tax evasion of around 2.3 million euros.

On the other hand, the restaurateur has lodged an appeal and announced that he may withdraw it as soon as he has examined the written reasons for the judgment. According to the court, the deadline for justifying the appeal expires on Friday at midnight.

According to BILD information, however, it has not yet been received by the court.

Dietlmaier: “Unaffected by the decision to continue the revision, Mr. Schuhbeck’s efforts are to fully compensate for the damage. We’ve already been in talks with investors. But it couldn’t be implemented because the investors didn’t pay after all. The focus is always on the spice trade.”
