Mexico City.– More than 19 million Britons watched the coronation ceremony of Carlos III through the transmissions made by the television channels of the United Kingdom.

The ceremony marked by pomp and luxury, where Prince Harry and Katy Perry were invited, registered an audience of more than 19 million, reports Deadline.

The BBC recorded the highest number of viewers with 13 million, according to figures from the Broadcasters Audience Research Board, cited by the US media.

The event was also available in sign language, where an audience of 1.7 million was recorded. While by ITV another 3.3 million were recorded.

Liam Hamilton, an expert in audience estimates in the United Kingdom, reported to the US portal that another million joined the broadcast through news channels, such as Sky News and BBC News.

The estimated total of 19 million is well below the audience for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral last year of 28 million.

However, the coronation surpassed the viewership of the Platinum Jubilee, which peaked at 13 million.

Viewership estimates for the royal event do not include those who watched the coronation in public places or through online broadcasts that some networks made on platforms such as YouTube.
