Several countries have already reinstated health restrictions with China, due to an increase in Covid-19 cases in this country.
After Spain and Italy, France? The government will announce this weekend Covid-19 health control measures for travelers coming from China, according to concordant sources at BFMTV.
Spain and Italy are the only countries among the 27 in the EU to have taken the decision in recent days to require negative tests from passengers arriving from China. Outside the EU, the United States and Japan have taken a similar step.
Explosion of cases in China
These decisions come following the lifting of health restrictions decided by the Chinese authorities, which resulted in a spectacular explosion of Covid cases in China.
“The main reason for concern is (…) the possibility that new uncontrolled variants may appear in China,” said Spanish Health Minister Carolina Darias.
In a statement released Thursday, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) said that the introduction of compulsory screening for Covid-19 within the European Union for travelers arriving from China would be “unjustified”.
