VSn Sunday, China lifted the foreign travel restrictions imposed for three years: it was the last step in the dismantling of the “zero covid” policy, abruptly lifted, to everyone’s surprise, on December 7th.
This ubiquitous control system – incessant PCR tests, compulsory masks, hermetic confinements, multiplication of quarantine centers… –, which emptied the coffers and exhausted the civil servants of local governments, gave way to the single slogan: “You are in charge. of your own health. Except that this 180º turn had obviously not been well prepared. Neither in terms of vaccination – only 40% of the elderly had a complete scheme – nor of stocks of medicines – anti-fever can now be bought on the black market.
