The exiled Cuban doctor Alexander Jesus Figueredo Izaguirrewho announced the regime trial against six surgeons from Bayamoresponded to an article in the official press that classified him as “a terrible student and a worse doctor,” and he did so by listing everything that the regime benefited from what a bad doctor he was.

“They talk about how I was a lousy student, a lousy specialist, and as a doctor it’s better not to mention it. I’m going to leave you with some evidence of what a bad doctor I was, because it’s true, I was a lousy student and now I don’t thank that revolution for anything, I was a terrible specialist who served two missions, I was head of CDI in one and head of medical assistance in the other teaching hundreds of students. I was such a bad doctor all my life that today in the ‘enemy’ country, in harsh and cruel capitalism, I have been working as a doctor for almost two years and I already have more degrees than in Cuba.“Figueredo Izaguirre responded forcefully.

“Write all that, but also say that I was terrible at saving hundreds of lives, that I was terrible on the front line against COVID-19, that I was so bad that masochistic patients, even from a distance, treated me, but they lacked More, tell the world that I am a terrorist against your dictatorship,” he said.

Alexander Figueredo stressed that one day he decided to “stop being complicit in their lies” and stood by the people and that is what bothers them.

“People that today know many things that they did not know before thanks to terrible doctors like me who, when the time came, decided to serve the people and not an oppressive, failed, and enslaving system that has us as accomplices and lying for 64 years”he concluded.

Figueredo Izaguirre also explained that for days he has been receiving attacks of all kinds coming from “those who love love and hate hate,” all since he uncovered the court case against six doctors from the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes hospital in Bayamo.

The doctor indicated that since then all the official propaganda media available to the dictatorship have taken it upon themselves to attack him to denigrate him before public opinion.

“Anywhere in the world that is called defamation and wherever it comes from it is actionable. Not in Cuba, in western Cuba the laws allow without evidence to offend, humiliate, denigrate, defame, even kill anyone who thinks differently than them.”he asserted.

Havana Tribune published a writing from the Facebook user Ernesto Cordoviwho presents himself on social networks as a doctor.

In that text, Cordoví celebrated the Ministry of Public Health and assured that the doctors on trial will be able to have all the tools and conditions to demonstrate their arguments before the Court. He also pointed out that the case has been used “from other shores, to unprotect the Cuban people.”

Cordoví attacked the complaints of several Cuban voices in exile and especially against Dr. Alexander Figueredo, whom he defined as a terrible professional.

“Alexander Figueredo, whose ideology I will not talk about, was a terrible undergraduate student, he was worse as a doctor at the 13 de Marzo Polyclinic and much worse as a Urology resident. No one can blame anyone for what I just said. “I am willing to sincerely debate the issue because I know it well,” Cordoví said.

“Well, it turns out that now the one who was never an example of anything, who even two days ago incriminated this government for not imprisoning a doctor for alleged medical negligence against his grandfather, is now the self-appointed defender of the doctors of Bayamo “he added.

His words have been interpreted as part of the discredit scheme that the Cuban government usually orchestrates against anyone who speaks out against it.
