A Cuban was arrested accused of assaulting and attacking a woman in her 20s who was trying to buy from him marihuana in southwest Miami, according to police reports.

He police report of the facts locates Boris Lázaro Castellanos30 years old and of Cuban origin, in the company of another subject and as the young woman’s main aggressor.

The events occurred on October 24, near 552 Southwest and Third Street, when the victim tried to reach the area where he had agreed to meet with his supplier.

Castellanos approached the victim, who was arriving in his car, at gunpoint and then demanded the money.the television network reported America TeVe.

“She was going to buy $350 worth of marijuana (when) she runs into a person she knows, who she supposedly bought from before,” he said. Mike Vegaspokesperson for the Miami police.

“When he gets there in his car, he says that the suspect, the person arrested in this case, and a friend approach him… The arrested person pulls out a gun, starts calling him names and hits him once with the gun and then starts to punch him telling him to give him the money,” the officer added.

The young woman attacked, whose identity has not been revealed, had the opportunity to turn on her phone’s camera and record her attacker.

“He manages to snatch the money from her and then when they are walking (get out) of the car, she starts running to the corner where she calls the police,” the spokesperson added.

Castellanos was arrested and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities under several charges that contemplate the armed robbery and assaultVega said.

The police report indicates that the accused denied his participation in the events. However, Castellanos appeared in court on November 2 and the judge ordered his imprisonment in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGK) prison, because he did not obtain bail for one of the charges filed.

Likewise, the victim was exonerated even though the trigger for the events was the irregular purchase of a psychoactive substance whose consumption is restricted in Florida.

“If she does not complete the act of purchasing the marijuana, then it does not become a crime, but (she) is the victim because she was robbed,” said Vega.

Other cases of illegal sale of marihuana that relate to Cubans have been reported in Miami.

In that city, A 22-year-old woman was arrested for selling marijuana candy to minorsafter several children overdosed.

Thalía Aceves was arrested in late 2022 after police and firefighters were called to Citrus Grove Elementary and Middle Schools, located on Northwest 3rd Street, in Little Havana, because several students were showing symptoms of a THC overdose.

Also, In the state of West Virginia, a Cuban was arrested last yearalong with another person whose nationality was not specified, after the authorities found more than 100 pounds of marijuana in the truck where they were traveling.
