Cuban is released after turning himself in at immigration, and describes the fact as a "miracle"

Guillermo López is a Cuban with a deportation order who today has experienced a significant moment, because after appearing at the immigration offices he was released.

The event gains connotation after several Cubans in a situation similar to his had recently been deported, and just this Wednesday another Cuban who went to his appointment with ICE was arrested.

López arrived by raft in 2021. And he says that he is not very good at speaking and that he gets nervous. And he thinks that’s why they didn’t approve the credible fear

Today he arrived at the immigration offices, as he tells us, to turn himself in.

Of the group of 36 Cubans with I-220B, some have already been deported, others recently detained. Yesterday we were here and we saw how one of them, Luis Alberto Martínez, was taken away in handcuffs.

López assures that the soul returned to the body and what he, in his few words, describes as a “miracle” occurred.

Through the same door he entered, he left, although he still has the shackle. He says that she only prayed to be free and even to see the photos of the 15th birthday party of his daughter who lives in Cuba.

He has an I-220B, which in practice basically works like a deportation order. In his case, for not being able to demonstrate fear of returning to Cuba, a country that the United States maintains on the list of nations that sponsor terrorism.
