After six years without winning medals in this type of competition, Cuba re-entered the ranking thanks to the results of Acosta, a graduate of the Máximo Gómez Vocational Pre-University Institute of Exact Sciences (IPVCE), from Camagüey, and Valdés, a student of the IPVCE Mártires de Humboldt 7, from Artemisa.
The competition had two parts, one theoretical and one at the laboratory level, which “tested the knowledge of representatives from 90 countries” in the contest, held from July 16 to 25, Acosta told the Cuban News Agency (ACN).
This is the first time that Acosta has participated in the IChO, a contest in which he was able to demonstrate the preparation received from his coaches, including Professor Julio Antonio Rodriguez Benitezwith 30 years of experience in this work, according to the report.
