A Cuban immigrant who obtained this Saturday the United States citizenship He affirmed that this fact was a dream pending to be fulfilled.

Norberto Ricardo, who fled the Cuban dictatorship a few years ago, received his naturalization this Saturday during a massive ceremony at halftime of a Las Vegas Lights game against Loudoun United FC.

“I came to the United States in search of freedom for my family because, as you know, in Cuba we have a dictatorship,” Ricardo told the press.

“I always wanted to become a (American) citizen; it was a pending dream that I have now fulfilled,” he added.

Norberto Ricardo and 249 other immigrants saw their dreams come true at Cashman Field.

Among them were 48 Filipinos, 42 Mexicans, 17 Cubans, and many more from 50 other countries.

“Dreams are broken in Cuba,” said Ricardo, father of three sons and a daughter. “Young people don’t have opportunities to grow and fulfill their dreams. It’s like they don’t have rights there.”

However, his goal does not end there. “I have a dream to fulfill,” she said. “And it is to become financially free.”

Ricardo, now a Las Vegas resident, has found a job in a casino to help his family.

United States Senator Catherine Cortez Masto said that migrants come to the country to pursue the American dream of success and give their children every opportunity.

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) naturalized nearly a million new citizens across the country last year, according to the Homeland Security website, 7,000 of those new citizens were in Las Vegas.
