Everyone who knows a minimum of DC Comics knows that Darkseid is the greatest villain of Earth’s heroes, especially those of the Justice League. And although he hates his opponents, that doesn’t stop him from admiring and even respecting at least one of them. And, in a new comic, the Apokolips tyrant has admitted a noble feeling for one of our planet’s youngest protectors.

Warning for spoilers for DCeased: War of the Undead Gods #8!

The reveal takes place in the parallel universe of DCeased, one of the darkest realities of the DC Multiverse. In the plot, a zombie virus created by a perversion of the Anti-Life Equation spreads across the galaxy, turning creatures into the living dead wherever it goes. Darkseid is the one who triggers this disease, as he was the first to be corrupted by this dark force.

Behold, after recovering from the control of this zombie virus, Darkseid, who in our regular universe is always behind the Anti-Life Equation, in the plot of DCesead the thing changes: since he was contaminated, the first thing he does when he returns to normal status is to seek revenge. And for that, ironically, he seeks help from the Justice League.

Who is the only Justice League hero that Darkseid respects?

Well, just like Darkseid, several heroes were infected by the Anti-Life Equation zombie virus in the plot of DCeasedtherefore, the Justice League is made up of different members than we are used to seeing in the traditional universe.

Em DCeased: War of the Undead Gods #8, after many years and hundreds of deaths, the remaining heroes manage to create a plan to destroy Erebos, which is the source of the Anti-Life Equation. But for that, one of them needs to sacrifice himself in the process. And Batman Damian Wayne, son of Bruce, who was once Robin, is the one who stands out to do that.

After the team learns that Damian has been secretly preparing for this, Darkseid, wearing a Yellow Lantern Corps ring, praises his move, calling it one of the “most impressive” — something the Justice League doesn’t exactly see as a compliment. , since the hero “does not need this validation”.

It is worth mentioning that, although this is a story of a parallel universe, this is not the first time that Darkseid has admired Batman. He had already done so in the official chronology, in Superman/Batman #12 from 2004, when Bruce Wayne threatened to blow up the villain’s home planet — that is, even in different realities, Darkseid continues to find Batman, precisely the most popular hero without superpowers in the Justice League, the only respectable opponent of the group.

This makes sense, as Batman, both Bruce’s and Damian Wayne’s, is the only hero who can travel so deeply into the minds of villains, and still not be corrupted. DCeased: War of the Undead Gods #8 was released last Tuesday (18) in the United States.
