Indeed, the recent statements of the voice actor of the main hero of the game suggest that the studio is still working on the license. It was during an interview with Streamily that Jason Kelley spoke about the audition process in which he and Ozioma Akagha, the actress behind Julianna, participated. Unfortunately, the man then let slip that they were still employed by Arkane for Deathloop, information that he certainly should not reveal…
Thus, it would not be surprising to see an extension being offered in the coming months, or even a sequel directly. As a reminder, the game features the character of Colt, stuck on the island of Blackreef, and destined to experience the same events over and over again in the middle of an infinite time loop. Wishing to end this loop, the player must then assassinate eight Visionaries to successfully end the adventure.
Initially released on PC and PS5 only in 2021, Deathloop then took advantage of the takeover of Bethesda by Microsoft to be released on Xbox Series on September 20. Having received generally good reviews from press and gamers alike, Arkane’s latest baby might just be the start of a new franchise. Note also that the French studio is also behind the Dishonored saga, another FPS released in 2012.
