For Völler it is the second post he has taken on at the DFB. Between 2000 and 2004, the 62-year-old, who currently sits on Bayer Leverkusen’s shareholders’ committee, was head coach of the national team. Fredi Bobic, currently under contract with Hertha BSC, was also a candidate. However, according to ‘Sky’, the commitment of the 51-year-old was not financially viable for the association.
