Former Stade Brestois coach Michel Der Zakarian talks about Youcef Belaïli’s time at the Breton club. He accuses the player’s entourage of being behind his departure from SB29 about three months ago.
At the end of September, Youcef Belaïli decided to break camp on the Stade Brestois side. An experience that will have lasted about nine months only. Either since his arrival in January 2022, from Qatar SC.
But the departure of the Algerian international has sparked a lively controversy, whether in Brittany or Algeria. Many things have been said. Indeed, several media have talked about non-sporting reasons. We quote in particular the newspaper “Le Télégramme” which went down in flames the player, by making serious revelations. Delays in training, an absence on the day of the group photo, a night out after a match in Paris or even a devastated rental house, these are the accusations made in Belaïli.
“His entourage does anything”
The specialized French newspaper “L’Equipe” devoted a long article to Youcef Belaïli. He talks about the player’s journey, especially in the national team.
Three months since the departure of the left winger of the Greens from Stade Brestois, his ex-trainer Michel Der Zakarian, currently without a club after being sacked from Brest for poor results, talks about the reasons which prevented the player from shining with the SB29. He blames those around him.
“Youcef is a nice boy with an undeniable talent. It is rather his entourage, people, pseudo-friends or cousins who do anything. He can’t say no to them. You have to love it, cuddle it, to bring it where you want. You also have to shake him up so that he does high-intensity sessions to repeat in matches”, he revealed, while recalling that “great players are constant” and that he “forgot something on the way and the enigma is there”.
The French technician also made another revelation. Indeed, he affirms that Belaïli could not bear to live far from his family. ” He was alone. He was feeling blue because his wife didn’t have a visa, he was bored. He had a hard time coping with the situation.
Remember that Youcef Belaïli joined AC Ajaccio last October. Everything is going well for him, scoring three goals and providing four assists.
