The approved document states that Older people have the right to receive comprehensive careincluding their preferential access to medical services and receiving training and guidance regarding their health, nutrition, hygiene and all those aspects that favor their personal care.
The initiative also recalls that the National Constitution establishes that the State will protect and promote health as a fundamental right of the person; and that the elderly have the right to comprehensive protection, through social services that deal with the needs of food, health, housing, culture and leisure.
One section refers to the Law No. 1,855/2002 – Of the elderly, recognizes that this age segment requires targeted attention, just like the children at the Hospital Niños Mártires de Acosta Ñu, and just like the elderly insured by the Social Welfare Institute (IPS), at the Prof. Dr. Gerardo Buongermini Geriatric Hospital.
