The animated movie Despicable Me, released in 2010, was an international hit with audiences. It must be said that the story is aimed at both young and old thanks to several levels of reading. Directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud, the film tells the story of Gru, a supervillain who plans to steal the moon. To do this, he adopts three orphan girls, with the goal of using their sale of cookies to break into the house of his rival, Vector. Gru is a complex and interesting character. Not only is he a bad guy (and again, that’s debatable), but he’s also funny and endearing. The minions, his yellow assistants bring a real comic touch to the film. The three little girls, meanwhile, will change Gru, forever. Also note the soundtrack whose musical producer is none other than Hans Zimmer (who has produced many anthology soundtracks) and whose composer is Pharrell Williams!

Following the global success of the first film, Universal Studios, which produced the film with Illumination Mc Guff (the French studio), decided to create one, then two sequels. So, Despicable Me 2 hits theaters in 2013 and Despicable me 3 in 2017. In parallel, the attraction of the public for the characters of the Minions (sorts of new raving rabbits) allowed them to play in their own film, Minions, telling their story before Gru. Also a success, it allowed the filming of a sequel, still a prequel to the main film: Minions 2: Once upon a time Gru. The film was released in 2022.
