The release of Diablo 4 is approaching and Blizzard has decided to reveal in detail the battle pass system with very concrete information. We also know a little more about the first season.

The wait will soon be over. In just under a month, on June 6, Diablo 4 will finally be available in its full version. Blizzard’s hack’n slash has already let itself be approached through several betas, but the serious things won’t begin until after the game’s release. That’s where all the launch content will be made available to players. , before the post-launch updates point the tip of their nose. Seasonal content will notably see the light of day, and Blizzard wants to reassure players about its battle pass, which is debated within the community.

A free battle pass for Diablo 4…

This Wednesday, May 10, there was a new developer livestream on Diablo 4. The opportunity for them to detail everything that awaits us from June 6. Referring to the season system, Blizzard recalled that there would be four per year, each lasting about three months. They will offer new gameplay – which will disappear at the end of the season, even if it means coming back later – as well as new quests. These will be completely independent of the main quest and will feature new characters. Will also be expected “Legendary items, class balance changes, comfort improvements and more. » That, you knew more or less if you followed the news around Diablo 4.

But the developers focused particularly on the battle pass. There will be a new one each season, and each will contain 90 tiers. To clear them, players will need to complete specific objectives related to each chapter. This will earn them “Favor”, which will allow them to unlock “Smoldering Ashes” among the 27 free Tiers. By spending them during seasonal blessings, they “will offer bonus EXP, gold or obols depending on the blessings you spend the resources on”.

Each season of Diablo 4 introduces a series of objectives that make up the Season’s Journey. Progressing in it grants rewards and progress in the Battle Pass. There are greater rewards as you play more throughout the season.

… but more interesting if you put your hand in your pocket

As in any other game with a Seasonal Battle Pass, Diablo 4 will also offer a Premium version. Paid (9.99€), it gives you access to the rewards of the 90 levels. However, Blizzard assures that the 67 Tiers that are not freely accessible only provide cosmetic bonuses and do not aid in progression. Finally, there is an Accelerated Battle Pass, which allows you to instantly pass the first 20 levels. However, its price is much higher: €24.99. As with the Seasonal Battle Pass, purchases through the in-game store are for cosmetic items only.

Note that the first season of Year 1 should land between mid and end of July. Accessing it will require having finished the Campaign at least once with a character. If this will not allow you to form an opinion on the seasons pass system, remember that a final open beta will be held from May 12 to 14 and will be accessible to all players. The content should be more or less the same as in the previous ones. For the (temporarily) full version of Diablo 4see you on June 6, 2023 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series!
