The season has already started and many people get on a bus to go on vacation in search of disconnecting a bit from the routine. But, what happens if when you arrive at your destination and go to look for your luggage, it’s not there?

For these cases, the National Transport Regulation Commission (CNRT), of the Ministry of Transport, announced the complaint procedure for lost luggage.

First of all, the passenger must keep the ticket and the ticket that they were given when they dispatched the luggage and make the claim to the company within 24 hours of the end of the trip.

You will also have to perform the complaint in the CNRT. This can be done through the entity’s website, which will monitor what is happening, after which the company has five calendar days to respond to the claim.

The person must keep this documentation until the luggage is returned in perfect condition or until the company compensates the amount provided by the regulations.

What happens if the company does not respond satisfactorily

In the event that the transport company does not respond satisfactorily after said period has elapsed, the CNRT intervenes in second instance and summons the company to indemnify the user or user.

The amount foreseen for January, February and March 2023 is $93,254.

So far this year, 24 complaints have already been registered for this reason and are being processed, of which 11 correspond to Retiro (Buenos Aires), 4 to Rosario, 2 to Santa Fe, 1 to Puerto Madryn, 1 to San Nicolás de los Arroyos, 1 to Bahía Blanca, 1 to Miramar, 1 to Corrientes, 1 to Río Cuarto (Córdoba) and 1 to Terminal Dellepiane (Buenos Aires).

What do Argentines expect from the 2023 holidays?

The public opinion and consumer research consultancy, Kantar, investigated what Argentines were planning for their vacations. The following are their main expectations.

The conclusion is that the Argentines consulted say that they need to disconnect, relax for a few days after a tiring year, but not at any price; rather, precautions are taken when making the budget for the annual rest.

In addition, he estimates that 8 out of 10 respondents plan to take at least a few days vacation somewhere in Argentina. Only 34% indicated that they will take advantage of the summer holidays to go on an adventure trip and discover new things. On the contrary, the majority (66%) prefer holidays of rest and relaxation.

Although it is worth clarifying that Kantar found that 52% of people between the ages of 26 and 34 do expect to take discovery vacations to discover new things or have adventures. Among those over 44 years of age, relaxation appears as the priority for 74 percent.

Sebastián Corzo, Marketing Director of the KANTAR Insights division, assures that “for Argentines vacations mean a moment of union with close people, family and friends, a search for tranquility; no bullfights or stress or obligations. And consistent with this idea, they prefer not to travel with everything planned minute by minute, they need to have a margin of action to do something that arises or, simply, nothing”.

54% of those surveyed say that they arrive first and there they just define what to do. Only 21% leave with the itinerary fully planned. The remaining 25% are in the intermediate option: plan some things and improvise others once in the place.

64% said vacations mean time to spend with family and friends, instead of other activities. And 62% tend to lean towards spending this rest period in remote destinations, not crowded tourist ones.

On the other hand, the Kantar study warns that Argentines are more thrifty and less likely to pay more expensive rates than the rest of the world. Only 39% are willing to make economic concessions and pay a little more for their vacations.

And, as a result of the outbreak of COVID-19 observed in recent weeks, 3 out of 4 Argentines surveyed prefer to take precautions again when it comes to hygiene and health care.
