Jair Perez Brañez was announced on December 10 as culture minister. He was presented as part of the first cabinet led by Prime Minister Pedro Angulo, under the presidency of Dina Boluarte. Six days later, in the midst of the deaths from the demonstrations, the cultural manager resigned from his position. Patricia Correafrom the Education portfolio, did the same.

Not many details of these outings had been known until this Black Monday, in which at least 17 deaths from the protests were counted. Through a Twitter thread, the former head of the Mincul He narrated some demands that were neglected by the president, and he blames those events on what happened on January 9.

“On Thursday, December 15, after the deaths in Ayacucho, I asked Dina Boluarte at the Government Palace, along with Patricia Correa, for explanations for the deaths in Ayacucho. We also request the departure of the political leaders (Ministers of Defense and Interior)”, Pérez begins by telling.

Immediately, he comments that they requested clarification of the military and police responsibilities, in addition to an immediate message to the nation “Asking for forgiveness from the people of Ayacucho.” He also recounts that together with the head of Minedu, they requested boluarte not to participate on December 16 in the military activity in Chorrillos, considering it “a provocation to the people of ayacucho”.

“Our requests were not met and we renounced their Cabinet”, maintains Perez.

In turn, the cultural manager details that from the first Minister council in which they participated, requested the activation of the National Agreement expanded, the elaboration of a Bill from the Executive to propose a citizen consultation for a new constitution. Along the same lines, they called for a consultative council with intellectuals and academics.

Since those requests were not met either, this fact also triggered the resignation of both officials.

“Today the death toll has increased and his government is becoming unsustainable, we need a peaceful solution with the participation of international organizations and legitimate political agents,” he says.

jair perez concludes that Boluarte and the delegitimized congress do not contribute to governability. “Our people must not shed a drop of blood, ever. Resignation Dina. Not one more death ”, he points out on Twitter.
