The Indian armed forces will also march on the Champs-Élysées. By the arrival of the Indian Prime Minister, France wants to consolidate the strategic partnership between the two nations. In a press release, the Elysée recalls that with India, the countries share the same vision in terms of security in Europe and in the Indo-Pacific region.
His arrival in France raises questions
India also acts as a counterweight to China, due to its status as the most populous country in the world. But Narendra Modi is often singled out for weakening democracy in his country. His arrival in France therefore raises questions for a specialist. “We have very few debates in France on our diplomatic relations”, regrets Christophe Jaffrelot, author of “L’Inde de Modi” published by Fayard. Narendra Modi was the first head of state received at the Élysée in May 2022 for Emmanuel Macron’s second five-year term.
