Tiago Rodrigues takes to the festival the production that premiered last year in Geneva, under the title “Dans la Mesure de l’Impossible” (“On the Measure of the Impossible”) which now, in Scotland, is called “As Far As Impossible “.

The play, which also marked the opening of the French theater season last September, when Tiago Rodrigues took over the direction of the Avignon Festival, is a bilingual performance, written and conceived by Tiago Rodrigues, inspired by the testimonies collected from Cruz employees. Red International and Médecins Sans Frontières.

The show “exposes the dilemmas of those who come and go between problematic intervention areas and their own quiet homes”, and “questions how this double life changes the way we look at the world and our personal lives”, adds the presentation text of the show, on the website of the Scottish festival.

Written and directed by Tiago Rodrigues, this creation premiered at the Comédie de Genève and translated into English by Thomas Recendes.

The show has scenography by Laurent Junod, Wendy Tokuoka and Laura Fleury, composition by Gabriel Ferrandini, light design by Rui Monteiro, sound design by Pedro Costa and costumes and artistic collaboration by Magda Bizarro.

Performing are Adrien Barazzone, Beatriz Brás, Baptiste Coustenoble, Natacha Koutchoumov and musician Gabriel Ferrandini.

The show, to be held at The Lyceum, will have five performances in Edinburgh, on the 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th of August, at 19:30, and, on the 13th, another performance, at 14:30.

Fado singer Mariza is the other Portuguese artist who will perform at the Edinburgh Festival, with a concert scheduled for August 15 at the Festival Theatre.

This year’s edition of the Edinburgh International Festival, in the first year that programmer and violinist Nicola Benedetti has directed the event, runs from the 4th to the 27th of August.

Last week the BBC announced the program for the BBC Proms festival, which includes fado singer Mariza, in her first fado performance at the event, in a concert scheduled for July 21 at the Royal Albert Hall.

Mariza will be accompanied by Luís Guerreiro (Portuguese guitar), Phelipe Ferreira (guitar), João Frade (accordion), Dinga (bass) and João Freitas (percussion).

The BBC Proms will run from 14th July to 9th September.
