Dog who was shot is now ready for a permanent home

A dog that was found shot in the leg is urgently looking for his own family as the shelter where he is no longer has the capacity to accept more animals.

Charlie, a 1-year-old Labrador and Pit Bull mix, is ready to be adopted into a loving and responsible home, according to the Inland Valley Humane Society (IVHS).

The animal shelter describes him as a “happy pet” with lots of love to give and an outgoing, sociable personality.

In addition to offering puppies for adoption and free training, Paws For Life K9 Rescue is also looking for volunteers to walk the pets while they wait for their chance at permanent homes.

The dog has been at the shelter for half a year. Although he is always happy and loving, he previously experienced difficult conditions.

“Charlie came to our shelter about six months ago. He is only one year old and in his short life, he has already suffered a lot,” said Erika Reynoso, IVHS animal control officer.

“When we found him, he had been shot. Due to excess capacity at the shelter, it is very important that Charlie find his (permanent) home as soon as possible”.

Could this be the puppy for you? The dog’s future family should know that Charlie is potty, leash and kennel trained. He also knows the basic commands including how to sit, stay, and heel.

IVHS has decided to waive Charlie’s adoption fee and the shelter will provide him with food and supplies. Anyone interested in welcoming the dog into her family can click here for more information.
