Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that he will support Donald Trump’s candidacy in next year’s presidential election if he wins the Republican Party primary.
Trump is the favorite for the Republican nomination, currently leading his party’s primary election polls and hypothetical rematch polls against President Joe Biden.
Abbot’s endorsement comes because he has long been close to Florida Governor Ron Desantis, Republican, but Desantis is currently in second place in the polls.
Trump praised Abbott’s border control work as the two handed out meals to members of the Texas National Guard.
Trump also promised the Texas governor that when he is elected he will make his job much easier.
Texas is identified as one of the strongest Republican states in the nation.
