The images released by the authorities show the goods landed ashore, hundreds of packages of narcotics, and the three suspects who have been arrested. “It is the largest semi-submersible seized since 1993”said Juan Pinilla, Captain of the Colombian Navy.
More and more boats
Colombian anti-narco forces regularly find this type of boat, abandoned by traffickers, on the edge of the ocean. They are very fast and skim over the water on the most popular route for illegal traffic to Mexico and then the United States, the main consumer. In 30 years, 228 submarines of this type have been seized.
Inspired by the submarines of the South American cartels, these boats made their appearance on the European coasts. 400 kilograms of cocaine and 700 grams of marijuana were seized in one of them in Malaga, Spain.
