DSDS: What Jill Lange has to do with the future of RTL
Apparently, the station itself realized that the sentence was too sexist, otherwise it would not have removed it. That would also have been possible in the RTL + version, but why is a Bohlen saying cut out now? In addition, the young woman has often encountered sexism on her dating shows – which certainly contributed a lot to her dismay. In fact, RTL is dictating its future in this scandal: RTL+ is a successful German streaming service in terms of subscriber numbers, and reality shows like “Are You The One” and “Ex on the Beach” are important drivers of success. And since the future, the young RTL audience is in the streaming area, it shouldn’t alienate the important protagonists.
The fact that in Cologne, of all things, it was decided in the last DSDS season to take back Bohlen’s biting not only due to the zeitgeist, even if his jury partner Katja Krasevice is right and sexism occurs often enough in his generation. At the same time, it illustrates what a turning point the German television landscape is currently at.
