An employee of the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTOP) suffered the amputation of his left leg after being caught after a driver hit him on PR-975, kilometer 1.8, in front of the field located in the Calderonas plots, in Ceiba.
The events occurred at about 10:45 am on Tuesday.
According to the police report, the driver of a Toyota Corolla was traveling on the road, lost control of the steering wheel and hit the DTOP employee, who was identified as Héctor Vázquez Serrano. The man was standing in the back of a flatbed truck that was stopped in the right lane.
Due to the impact, the victim’s leg was caught in the platform of the Humacao DTOP truck, causing a traumatic amputation.
Vázquez Serrano was transported to the Caribbean Medical Center Hospital in Fajardo and transferred to the Industrial Hospital of the metropolitan area, in careful condition.
The Fajardo Highway Patrol Division was in charge of the corresponding investigation.
