Chihuahua.- Yesterday, former president César Duarte Jáquez left Cereso Number 1, owned by Aquiles Serdán, for the third time for health reasons. On this occasion, he had to be treated at the Star Médica Hospital, in the De la Juventud peripheral, due to a high blood pressure crisis, which occurred around 4:30 p.m.
On June 2, the ex-governor will celebrate one year of having been transferred to this capital; since then he has presented four medical crises, three of them, including this last one, forced him to leave the prison to receive care.
The previous departures occurred in June and September 2022, when he underwent surgical procedures related to the consequences of the helicopter accident he suffered while he was state president. In addition, in March he presented heart problems, although he was treated inside the prison. Now he had to graduate again due to complications from the hypertension he suffers from.
The high blood pressure crisis occurred yesterday around 4:30 a.m., according to information provided by a relative. In this regard, his lawyer Juan Carlos Mendoza pointed out that they were waiting for his client’s medical report. According to the data provided, at 7:00 in the morning he was ordered to leave the San Guillermo prison to be transferred to the hospital. The report was that the blood pressure remained at 180.
Duarte’s first exit occurred on June 25, when he was transferred to the Christus Muguerza hospital, where he underwent surgery to place a mesh in an inguinal hernia for which he was at risk of suffering large intestine perforation.
Through an official statement they reported that he was operated on and that specialist doctors performed a laparoscopy through which they placed a mesh on his right inguinal hernia; The intervention was successful, so the ex-governor was under observation and follow-up for a few hours.
The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) announced that all the expenses of the operation are borne by the relatives. He returned to prison five days later, on June 30.
On Monday, September 12, he was transferred by ambulance to the Star Médica hospital, where he underwent surgery for a chronic cervical condition. On the 23rd of that month, he was taken to the Central Hospital to continue his recovery process. He returned to the prison on October 1st.
On March 30, the former president suffered heart complications; however, he was treated at Aquiles Serdán’s Cereso 1. His lawyers reported that he had suffered a heart attack, but the Secretary of State Public Security (SSPE) assured that he had not presented this problem.

César Duarte will be this day at the intermediate hearing of his legal process, for which he is being held in the Aquiles Serdán prison. According to the programming of the Superior Court of Justice (TSJ), the hearing will begin at 9:00 in the morning.
This will be the third time that an intermediate hearing has been summoned, since on the two previous occasions it was postponed and instead, the defense sought to modify the precautionary measure, but Judge Humberto Chávez decided to keep the defendant in preventive detention.
The intermediate hearing is in preparation for the trial for the accusation of embezzlement and criminal association within criminal case 3041/2019, related to the diversion of 96 million 665 thousand 253.80 pesos from the treasury that, allegedly, was delivered to the Unión Ganadera Regional Division del Norte and Financiera División del Norte SA DE CVSOFOMENR, of which the former governor was a director and partner.
