A dud was found in Dortmund’s Westfalenpark on Thursday. The defusing took place in the afternoon.

Another dud find in the Westphalia Park Dortmund: During construction work right next to the Florian Tower, there is one on Thursday aircraft bomb found from World War II. The city of Dortmund announced that the bomb was successfully defused in the afternoon.

For security reasons, the surrounding area was within a 250 meter radius evacuated been. According to the city, residents were not affected – only that was evacuated Wilo company building on Florianstrasse and parts of the park. The number of park guests was limited anyway because of the bad weather.

Parts of the Westfalenpark remained open. From 2.30 p.m. to around 5 p.m. was only the Entrance “Bush Mill” open. the B1 and B54 were not locked because they are not in the radius.

Again and again duds are found in the Westfalenpark. Because of its proximity to the Phoenix steelworks, the area was particularly affected by the hail of bombs. And it won’t be the last find either: “When the season starts again, there will definitely be more,” says Park circles.
